Senior Counseling Package

While much of a student’s numeric profile is set by the start of senior year, twelfth grade is important for application strategy and preparation and for tying up loose ends. The beginning of senior year is an opportunity to refine a student’s strategy, to finish any remaining standardized testing, and to complete applications.

Services include:

• Unlimited ongoing access to your counselor to discuss any issues of concern as they arise throughout the school year
• Discussions to build and finalize the college list and to consider admissions plans, such as early decision, early action, rolling, and regular decision
• Extended meetings to discuss and develop essay topics
• Ongoing review of all essays and applications
• Preparation for admissions interviews with admissions officers and alumni
• Monitoring all deadlines, including those at school and at colleges
• For deferred or wait-listed students, focused meetings on strategy and follow-up to maximize chances for admission during subsequent admissions review

Junior Counseling Package

Junior year is a crucial year, as it is the last full year for which there will be grades before the admissions review process begins. Particular attention must be paid to academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and standardized test preparation and performance.

Services include:

• Unlimited ongoing access to your counselor to discuss any issues of concern as they arise throughout the school year
• An initial meeting to determine strengths, weaknesses, solutions, and goals
• Individual meetings to discuss a standardized testing calendar, referrals for tutors, extracurricular activity review, and summer activity planning
• Targeted exercises to assist with activities résumé formatting and writing
• Discussions and preparations for admissions interviews and college visits
• Assistance identifying and gathering letters of recommendation
• Guidance to complete a full application, including essays, before senior year

Sophomore Counseling Package

Sophomore year provides an important foundation for the junior and senior years, both academically and extracurricularly. Early planning provides a solid foundation and strengthened profile, particularly for those students interested in highly selective colleges.

Services include:

• Unlimited ongoing access to your counselor to discuss any issues of concern as they arise throughout the school year
• Introduction of the intricacies of the college selection process
• A review of prior and current academic progress to select appropriate classes with an eye toward college admission and to create an academic plan for subsequent years
• Extracurricular review and recommendations for enhancement
• Advice and overview regarding PSAT, SAT, and ACT testing
• Referrals to tutors for standardized testing and/or academics
• Identification of summer activities and opportunities, including completion of summer program applications
• Advanced junior year planning

Freshman Counseling Package

Freshman year provides an important foundation for the rest of high school. Early planning provides a solid foundation and strengthened profile, particularly for those students who plan to apply to highly selective colleges.

Services include:

• Unlimited ongoing access to your counselor to discuss any issues of concern as they arise throughout the school year
• Introduction of the intricacies of the college selection process

Eighth Grade Counseling Package

Eighth grade counseling ensures that you are well-informed and prepared for high school right from the start.

Services include:

• Unlimited ongoing access to your counselor to discuss any issues of concern as they arise throughout the school year
• Review of past academic performance
• Meeting to chart out an academic and extracurricular roadmap
• Selection of high school classes and curriculum with an eye toward college
• Exploration of extracurricular interests and discussing summer opportunities
• A review of learning strategies for optimal high school performance
• Introduction of the intricacies of the college application and admission process
• Advanced freshman year planning
